Hello SoJo School Community!
We are excited to welcome our students back to South Jordan Middle School! With the new school year just around the corner, we wanted to share a few important updates and reminders to help your family get ready for a great start to the year.
Schedules Are Now Visible
Student schedules are now available to view in Skyward. Because of the complexity of balancing schedules for more than 1,200 students, we are generally unable to make schedule changes unless there is an error. If you have a question about your student’s schedule or believe there is a mistake, please contact your student’s counselor.
One change this year is that some full-year courses, including Language Arts and Math, have been “semesterized” to maximize the opportunity for students to receive the courses they requested. As a result, some students may have a different class period—and occasionally a different teacher—for these courses during the second semester.
Emergency Contact Student Checkouts
As a reminder, if someone listed as an emergency contact, but who is not the student’s legal guardian, comes to school to check out a student, we are required to confirm with the legal guardian that we have permission to release the student.
This procedure is in place to help ensure the safety of every student and to make sure students are released only to an authorized adult. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Chromebook Damage Fine Changes
All schools in Jordan School District are moving from an itemized Chromebook damage fine structure to a tiered fine system. Fines will range from $10, $20, and $45 for physical damage requiring repair, up to $300 for devices that are lost or cannot be repaired.

Back-to-School Open House
We would love to see you at our Back-to-School Open House on Thursday, August 13, from 5:00–7:00 p.m.!
This will be an open-house format, giving you an opportunity to:
- Meet your student’s teachers and other members of our staff
- Explore the school and locate classrooms
- Find your student’s locker
- Practice opening the locker
- Become familiar with the building before the first day of school
