It’s the final month of school, and we’ll get to where there are more and more things going on to tell you about each week. Check our school calendar for the most up-to-date information. For this week, the main message is that we are in the midst of end-of-year testing. We spend a lot of time looking at the results of those assessments and using that information to make school better for individual students, and the school as a whole. Please help us encourage your students to take the assessments seriously.
RISE Test May 13-17
During the week of May 13-17 our 7th & 8th grade students will be taking the RISE test. We will not be holding Prowl on Monday or Tuesday, May 13 & 14, to allow more time in classes for kids to take and complete their tests. The bell schedule for Monday and Tuesday, May 13 & 14, can be found here.
Skateboard Storage – Lockers Only
SoJo will no longer be able to store student’s skateboard in the attendance office. We have had students take skateboards that do not belong to them. Therefore, students will need to store skateboards in their lockers. Yes, we tested it, skateboards fit in the locker. If students need help finding their locker and locker combo, or need help using their locker, please come to the attendance office.
May 4 – Walk for Hope
The BHS Hope Squad is hosting a Walk for Hope on Saturday, May 4 at 9:00 AM. The three-mile walk will stroll through Bingham, SoJo, and Jordan Ridge campuses with informational rest stops along the way to encourage mental health awareness. The walk is open to all participants, so bring your family. Participants are asked to complete the Disclaimer prior to arrival. You can find more information on this Walk for Hope Summary.
Check Student Chromebooks, Library Books, and Fines
We are nearing the end of the year, and now is a good time to check if there are any outstanding fines or fees. There are two places to check: 1. Skyward – to see current fines and fees. 2. Destiny – to see items that are assigned/loaned to each student. If a student has outstanding fines or fees, there may be a delay in picking up their memory book.
All students will return their Chromebooks on Thursday, May 23. Fines will be assessed for Chromebook damage and for missing charging cords. Students with fines will not be able to get their Memory Books, so please check Skyward for any fines before and after May 23. If a student returns a Chromebook that is not theirs, the full cost of a lost Chromebook will be assessed. Chromebook mix ups happen more often than you might think. If there is more than one JSD student in a household or if students complete homework together, they can pick up someone else’s Chromebook. Here is a video to help you check if the Chromebook the student has is the Chromebook they are supposed to have.
